What matters here: The Paid Hour publishes general information about UK freelance money and tax, and sells digital guides, templates and courses. Nothing here is personal tax, financial or legal advice. Our products are downloads. We give you a 30-day money-back guarantee anyway, no reason needed, and your rights if something is faulty or not as described are untouched.

1. Who you are dealing with
This website, thepaidhour.com (“the site”, “we”, “us”, “our”), is operated by Syed Esrak Ahmmed, a sole trader based in England, trading as The Paid Hour.
- Postal address: Elm Close, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE29 7AR, United Kingdom
- General enquiries and complaints: our contact form
- Privacy and data requests: privacy@thepaidhour.com
We are not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
2. These terms
By using the site or buying anything from it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
These terms sit alongside our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Editorial Policy, Affiliate Disclosure, How We Make Money and Corrections Policy.
We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time of your purchase is the one that applies to that purchase. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
3. Nothing on this site is advice
Everything we publish is general information about how UK rules work. It is not tax advice, financial advice, legal advice or accountancy services, and it is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
- We are not accountants, solicitors or regulated advisers, and we do not claim to be.
- We do not know your circumstances, so nothing here is a recommendation for your situation.
- Tax rules, rates, thresholds and deadlines change. Figures are correct at the date stated on the page and linked to their primary source, usually HMRC or gov.uk.
- Before you act on anything with money at stake, check the current position with HMRC or a qualified professional.
You remain responsible for your own tax returns, filings, deadlines and business decisions.
4. Using the site
You may read, print and share links to our pages for your own use. You may not:
- copy, republish or redistribute our articles, charts, images or product content, in whole or in substantial part, without written permission;
- scrape or bulk-download the site, or harvest it into a dataset used to train, fine-tune or ground a machine-learning model (normal search-engine indexing and ordinary citation with a link are fine);
- remove or alter our branding, bylines, source lines or disclaimers;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, upload anything malicious, or interfere with how it runs for other people;
- use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that misrepresents us or our content.
You may quote a short extract for review, comment or news reporting if you credit The Paid Hour and link to the page you took it from.
5. Our content and copyright
All content on the site and in our products (text, guides, templates, charts, images, course material, the logo and the name The Paid Hour), belongs to us or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other rights. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you.
6. What we sell
We sell digital products only: PDF guides, spreadsheet and document templates, and self-paced written courses. There is nothing physical, and nothing is posted to you.
- Every purchase is a one-off payment. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
- You get access immediately after payment: a download link on the order confirmation page and in your order email, and in your account area.
- You need software that opens PDF, spreadsheet and document files. We do not supply it.
- Product descriptions, page counts and module counts are accurate at the time of listing. Screenshots and images are illustrative.
7. Prices and payment
- All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and are the full price you pay.
- The price that applies is the one shown on the checkout page when you place your order.
- Sale and launch-offer prices apply only for the period stated. Where a struck-through price is shown, that is the price the product normally sells at outside the offer.
- Payments are taken by our payment providers (Stripe and WooCommerce Payments), including card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and, where offered at checkout, buy-now-pay-later providers. Their own terms apply to the payment itself.
- We never see or store your full card details.
- If a price is displayed incorrectly through an obvious error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than supply at the wrong price. We will tell you if that happens.
8. Delivery, and problems downloading
Delivery is automatic and instant once payment clears. If a download link does not work, has expired, or the file will not open, contact us through the contact form with your order number and we will send you a working copy. There is no charge for that.
9. What you may do with what you buy
When you buy a product we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it. Under that licence:
- You may use it for yourself and inside your own business, print it, and use our templates to produce your own invoices, letters, trackers and records, including for your paying clients.
- You may not resell it, share it, give it away, upload it to file-sharing, course-sharing or “swap” sites, post it in a paid community, or distribute it inside an organisation beyond yourself.
- You may not rebrand it, white-label it, sell it as your own material, or use it to build a competing product.
- You may not use it as training data for a machine-learning or AI model.
The licence is for one person. If you want to use a product across a team, a practice or a client base, contact us first.
10. Cancelling, and refunds
Our 30-day money-back guarantee
If a product turns out not to be right for you, tell us within 30 days of buying it and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason, and you do not need to prove anything. Message us through the contact form with your order number and we will sort it out.
Two fair limits, so the guarantee stays possible:
- One refund per customer per product. We may decline where someone buys, refunds and re-buys the same material repeatedly.
- A refunded product may no longer be used, printed or kept, and your download access ends when the refund is issued.
Your statutory right to cancel
Separately from that guarantee, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel most things bought online. Digital content supplied immediately is treated differently: when you buy from us you ask us to supply the product straight away, and you accept that the statutory right to cancel ends once the download begins. That is what you are agreeing to at checkout. Our own guarantee above is deliberately more generous than the law requires, and it is not affected by this.
If something is wrong with the product
Your legal rights are untouched either way. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a file will not open, the content does not match what was advertised, or a figure is materially wrong, tell us. We will repair or replace it, and if that is not possible or does not fix it, you are entitled to a price reduction or a refund. Our Corrections Policy explains how we handle errors we publish.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the original payment method, normally within 5 working days of us agreeing to them and always within 14 days. We do not charge a fee for a refund.
Buying for a business
The 30-day money-back guarantee applies to everyone. The statutory cancellation and consumer rights described above are consumer rights, and do not apply if you are buying in the course of a trade, business or profession.
11. Keeping products up to date
UK tax rules change every year. Where we update a product for a change in the rules, existing buyers get the updated version at no extra cost through the same download link or account area. We do not guarantee that every product will be updated indefinitely, and we will say on the product page if a version is tied to a specific tax year.
12. Ads, affiliate links and third-party sites
- We show advertising, including Google AdSense. Ads are served by third parties and are not endorsements by us.
- Some outbound links are affiliate links, which means we may be paid if you sign up with a provider. This never sets the order of our recommendations, and every commercial relationship is listed on our Affiliate Disclosure page. Links we cite as evidence are never affiliate links.
- We are not responsible for third-party websites, their content, their pricing or their terms. Check them yourself before you buy.
13. Availability of the site
We try to keep the site available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, or any product, without notice. If we withdraw a product you have already bought, your download access continues.
14. Our liability to you
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that:
- We supply our content and products for private and business information purposes. We are not liable for tax penalties, interest, missed deadlines, lost profit, lost business, lost data or any indirect or consequential loss arising from decisions you take based on them.
- Where we are liable to you for a product, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for that product.
- If we supply digital content that damages your device or other digital content because we failed to take reasonable care, we will repair the damage or pay compensation, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. This does not apply if you could have avoided the damage by following our advice or by properly installing a free update we offered.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
15. Complaints and disputes
If something has gone wrong, tell us first through the contact form. We aim to reply within 5 working days and to resolve complaints within 14 days. If you are not happy with the outcome, you can get free advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service.
16. Data protection
We handle personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. What we collect, why, and how to exercise your rights are set out in our Privacy Policy. Data questions go to privacy@thepaidhour.com.
17. General
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- If we do not insist on something straight away, that does not stop us insisting on it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer ours if the site is sold, and your rights will not be affected.
- These terms are between you and us. Nobody else can enforce them.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
