One-page tools, no sign-up, no catch. Each one started as a question a reader actually asked, and each is the free edge of a full course. Download the PDF, use it, close the tab — there is no email wall in front of any of them.
Every tool below is checked against gov.uk or the provider’s own terms and carries the date it was checked. They are deliberately short: one page you can keep open while you do the thing, not a guide you have to read first. Where the answer needs more than a page, the tool links to the full guide.
The tools
MTD Readiness Checker
Ten yes/no checks that tell you whether Making Tax Digital for Income Tax applies to you from April 2026 — and, if it does, exactly what has to change before it does. Qualifying income above £50,000 pulls you in first, £30,000 in April 2027 and £20,000 in April 2028, and the threshold is measured on gross income, which is where most people get the answer wrong. Pairs with the full HMRC Tax & Expense Mastery course.
Cross-Border Invoice Wording Pack
The exact lines to put on an invoice to a US, EU or rest-of-world client: reverse charge, outside the scope, not VAT-registered. Copy them, do not compose them — the wrong wording on an overseas invoice is the kind of thing that surfaces two years later during an enquiry. Nine templates, one page.
Go-Limited Scorecard
Nine honest questions that tell you whether a limited company is actually worth it for you after the April 2026 dividend rise. It is scored, so you get a number rather than a shrug, and it counts the costs people leave out — accountancy fees, Companies House filing, the extra admin, the fact that the money is no longer yours the moment it lands.
Unpaid Invoice — Your First Three Moves
A client has gone quiet on an invoice. These are the first three moves, in order, with the wording for each — before you spend money escalating. Most late payments are recovered at move one or two; knowing that statutory interest is Bank of England base rate plus 8% is what makes move three credible.
Client Onboarding Checklist
The nine steps that stop scope creep and late payment before the project starts, not after. Deposit terms, revision limits, who owns what, what happens if the brief changes — all agreed in writing while the client is still keen, which is the only moment it is easy.

The tools are summaries of work covered properly elsewhere on the site. Start with the freelancer tax checklist for the whole first-year sequence, the 2026–27 tax calendar for every deadline in one place, or what insurance a self-employed person actually needs if you are working out cover.
